About Rochester Septic
Rochester Septic is a locally owned SSTS installer working unsewered property in and around Rochester, Minnesota. We install raised sand mound systems, replace failed drainfields, read the soil that decides a design, handle the county permitting, and set the tanks and pumps a mound runs on. We are MPCA certified and insured in Minnesota.
The thing that separates a mound that runs for decades from one that fails early is work nobody sees on the quote. The sand gets placed to the design depth on a scarified surface so it filters the way it should. The pressure network gets tested so every orifice doses the same small charge and the whole bed shares the load. The pump gets sized to the network. The control panel goes where the alarm can be heard. Set that against a mound thrown up fast and left untended until the yard tells on it.
This is karst country, and the rock is usually what makes the decision. The soil runs thin over fractured dolomite and limestone, so on lot after lot there is not three feet of clean soil above the bedrock and a buried field cannot pass. Building up on clean sand is how you get the separation, and in karst that clean treatment above the rock also protects the fast-moving groundwater below. That is the whole argument for reading the ground where the system is going before anyone talks price.
We also say no. A routine tank pump-out belongs to a pump truck, and they are cheaper at it than we are. If your system does not yet need what we do, we will tell you. And we will not sell you a mound the soil does not require, any more than we will promise a buried field the rock will not carry. The evaluation settles it, and we let it.
