Olmsted County is home ground, and Rochester is its center. Sewer here stops at the city edges. Everything past those lines, and nearly all of the surrounding country, runs on a septic system, and that is our whole map.
The work crosses several counties, and that matters more here than in most places, because each county is its own SSTS authority under the same Minnesota rules. Rochester, Byron, Stewartville, Oronoco, Eyota, and Dover sit in Olmsted County. Kasson is in Dodge County. Pine Island straddles the Goodhue County line, and Chatfield straddles the Fillmore County line. We file with the right one for your parcel, so a cross-county lot does not stall.
The ground changes across that map, but the theme holds. This is karst country: thin soil over fractured dolomite and limestone, with the rock often too shallow for a buried drainfield. On lower ground near the Zumbro River a seasonal high water table adds a second limit. Both push designs toward a mound, and the soil evaluation is how we read which way your specific lot goes.
New construction is a big part of the work out here. Rochester and Byron keep pushing homes past the sewer, and the townships around them are filling with acreage homesites near Cascade, Marion, and Haverhill. We also replace and convert older systems that have finally given out on country places around Stewartville, Eyota, and Chatfield.
